I can’t believe that it’s RACES post time again…. This is one of my favourite times of year. For the last 4 years I’ve attended a country Ladies Day Races with a group of fabulous women. The chatter and organisation leading up to the day is part of what makes it so special…frocks and fascinators are what it’s all about…
This year I fell in love with a bright floral dress from ESTELLE and have in fact worn it 2 weekends in a row…once to Ladies Day and once to a friend’s Race Night party. I wore my hair differently on each occasion and changed my accessories.
I felt amazing on both occasions and got heaps of compliments!
It feels like just the other day that I started doing the AUSSIE CURVES CHALLENGES. Being part of the community and taking part in as many challenges as possible has been really positive for me. Not only have I got to paly with clothes (which I love) but the incredible AUSSIE CURVES community, which I see as a SISTERHOOD has contributed to me feeling more body positive than I have in forever! Thank you ladies.
I posted my first post on 8 November 2013 and haven’t looked back. During this time I’ve attended a fabulous AUSSIE CURVES catch up in Melbourne, meeting a wonderful group of women and I also attended my first official fashion show, The Curvy Couture Roadshow.
Without further a do…here are my favourite outfits from my posts to date.
DENIM has been a staple in my wardrobe for years now, including: jeans, denim skirt(s) and denim jacket(s). It’s one of those things that is so versatile, can be dressed up or down and is sooooo easy to wear. The outfit I’ve chosen primarily for this post (and I say primarily, as I am going to post a couple of other pics of me in denim too) is based around my denim jacket which I LOVE… The jacket is from Wallis and has a slight stretch in it. The stretch makes it so comfy to wear and also ‘fits’ my curves.
Jacket : Wallis
Top : Best & Less
Skirt : Big W
Boots : Simply Be
Bag : Marks & Spencers
In the pictures above I am wearing my favourite black jeans from City Chic… they are amazing!!! I love that they fit my waist and my thighs-something I usually have problems with. Not to mention they haven’t faded one bit… I’ve worn them on nights out….to brunch (picture on the left) and doing the soccer mom thing (picture on the right).
I’m so pleased that there’s so much denim out there to fit all shapes, sizes and budgets. I remember a time, not so long ago, when that was not the case.
This weeks Aussie Curves challenge, POLKA DOTS, is right up my street. I may just have to use more than one outfit’s pics…
For me, POLKA DOTS are timeless and versatile. My favourite POLKA DOT print is probably black & white.
These pics were taken last summer, in Melbourne (with this challenge in mind!).
TUNIC: CITY CHIC
The tunic is fab. It took me a little out of my comfort zone as it’s a bit shorter than I would usually wear, but I felt great in it.
Fairly recently I found a bargain Autograph dress on ebay, which I think makes a great work outfit. With winter on our doorstep, I plan on wearing my black knee-high boots and black leather look jacket with the dress – I’ll be sure to post a pic when I do…
I’ve not spent much time on my blog lately…so thought it’s about time I pulled up my big girl pants and made an effort. It’s not that I’ve lost interest, but sometimes life just gets a bit busy and if I’m honest, I’ve really struggled with the last few Aussie Curve challenges! PATTERN CLASH…BODY CON…AND NOW HIPSTER!!!
I am determined to have a go this week – however out of my comfort zone HIPSTER is. Actually, I had to check in with some of the other Aussie Curves girls about what HIPSTER looks like…(thanks for all your help by the way!) and did a bit of ‘googling’ This morning I had a look in my wardrobe and it’s fair to say, flung myself on my bed in despair after a short while – I can be a bit dramatic. One of the fab things about the Aussie Curves challenges is that they are open to individual interpretation, so my pics are going to be that!
Before we get to my pics, I thought it may be a good idea to show some of the ideas that I came across during my investigations – I’m sure there are those of you who like me have no idea about HIPSTER fashion.
Below are some images I found which appealed to me, while surfing the net, trying to educate myself on all things HIPSTER…(if I’ve used an image of YOU please let me know so I can acknowledge it)
Here are a few outfit boards I put together in relation to my interpretation of HIPSTER…
When I got to work today one of my colleagues was wearing what I’d say is HIPSTER, so I asked if she’s mind posing for a pic…tadaaaaa here it is… (thanks)
…and FINALLY, here are my pics for the Aussie Curves: Hipster challenge, adapted for work (they were taken in a rush so are not as great as I’d hoped).
As I sit down to do this post, I’m very aware of ALL the things I have to do! I’m going away you see (holiday…not asylum!) and have loads to do in the next few hours. I couldn’t miss out on this Aussie Curves challenge though – I LOVE the whole cocktail theme. In fact, in the last 3 years I’ve come to find that I love wearing dresses (all types). So due to time constraints here’s my Aussie Curves: Cocktail post in a nutshell…
