AUSSIE CURVES: FLASHBACK

Standard

It feels like just the other day that I started doing the AUSSIE CURVES CHALLENGES. Being part of the community and  taking part in as many challenges as possible has been really positive for me. Not only have I got to paly with clothes (which I love) but the incredible AUSSIE CURVES community, which I see as a SISTERHOOD has contributed to me feeling more body positive than I have in forever! Thank you ladies.

I posted my first post on 8 November 2013 and haven’t looked back. During this time I’ve attended a fabulous AUSSIE CURVES catch up in Melbourne, meeting a wonderful group of women and I also attended my first official fashion show, The Curvy Couture Roadshow.

Without further a do…here are my favourite outfits from my posts to date.

AUSSIE CURVES : DENIM

Standard

DENIM has been a staple in my wardrobe for years now, including: jeans, denim skirt(s) and denim jacket(s). It’s one of those things that is so versatile, can be dressed up or down and is sooooo easy to wear. The outfit I’ve chosen primarily for this post (and I say primarily, as I am going to post a couple of other pics of me in denim too) is based around my denim jacket which I LOVE… The jacket is from Wallis and has a slight stretch in it. The stretch makes it so comfy to wear and also ‘fits’ my curves.

In the pictures above I am wearing my favourite black jeans from City Chic… they are amazing!!! I love that they fit my waist and my thighs-something I usually have problems with. Not to mention they haven’t faded one bit… I’ve worn them on nights out….to brunch (picture on the left) and doing the soccer mom thing (picture on the right).

I’m so pleased that there’s so much denim out there to fit all shapes, sizes and budgets. I remember a time, not so long ago, when that was not the case.

TILL NEXT TIME…

AUSSIE CURVES: POLKA DOTS

Standard

YES!!! POLKA DOTS!!! I LOVE POLKA DOTS!!!

This weeks Aussie Curves challenge, POLKA DOTS, is right up my street. I may just have to use more than one outfit’s pics…

For me, POLKA DOTS are timeless and versatile. My favourite POLKA DOT print is probably black & white.

These pics were taken last summer, in Melbourne (with this challenge in mind!).

TUNIC: CITY CHIC

The tunic is fab. It took me a little out of my comfort zone as it’s a bit shorter than I would usually wear, but I felt great in it.

Fairly recently I found a bargain Autograph dress on ebay, which I think makes a great work outfit. With winter on our doorstep, I plan on wearing my black knee-high  boots and black leather look jacket with the dress – I’ll be sure to post a pic when I do…

What do you think?

AUSSIE CURVES: TIME SAVER

Standard

TIME SAVER!

When it came to this week’s Aussie Curves challenge, TIME SAVER, my thoughts immediately went to my weekday mornings…a blur of having stayed up too late, pressed snooze on my alarm too many times, needing to get the kids to school and arrive at work looking presentable (it’s made me tired just thinking about it!)

For the purposes of this challenge I am going to use some work outfits. Before I do though, here are some of my time saver tips:

1) Hair – invest in some dry shampoo

2) Make-up – make sure you have a BB cream (moisturizer and tint in one!)

3) Glamour – a versatile pair of black sunnies and on trend bag ( these can add instant glamour to any outfit)

4) Jewellery – versatile statement earrings or necklace (something to finish the outfit off with)

My TIME SAVER look for work inevitably involves black pants or a black skirt, black shoes, a top, a jacket or a cardie. I am the queen of quick bag changes and often use them to add colour to an outfit along with a bright lippie.

Here are a couple of outfits I wore to work last week….

AUSSIE CURVES: HIPSTER

Standard

                                                                             Hello you!

I’ve not spent much time on my blog lately…so thought it’s about time I pulled up my big girl pants and made an effort. It’s not that I’ve lost interest, but sometimes life just gets a bit busy and if I’m honest, I’ve really struggled with the last few Aussie Curve challenges! PATTERN CLASH…BODY CON…AND NOW HIPSTER!!!

I am determined to have a go this week –  however out of my comfort zone HIPSTER is. Actually, I had to check in with some of the other Aussie Curves girls about what HIPSTER looks like…(thanks for all your help by the way!) and did a bit of ‘googling’ This morning I had a look in my wardrobe and it’s fair to say, flung myself on my bed in despair after a short while – I can be a bit dramatic. One of the fab  things about the Aussie Curves challenges is that they are open to individual interpretation, so my pics are going to be that!

Before we get to my pics, I thought it may be a good idea to show some of the ideas that I came across during my investigations  – I’m sure there are those of you who like me have no idea about HIPSTER fashion.

Below are some images I found which appealed to me, while surfing the net, trying to educate myself on all things HIPSTER…(if I’ve used an image of YOU please let me know so I can acknowledge it)

wpid-photogrid_1398221430640.jpg

Here are a few outfit boards I put together in relation to my interpretation of HIPSTER…

When I got to work today one of my colleagues was wearing what I’d say is HIPSTER, so I asked if she’s mind posing for a pic…tadaaaaa here it is… (thanks)

wpid-photogrid_1398317736320.jpg

…and FINALLY, here are my pics for the Aussie Curves: Hipster challenge, adapted for work (they were taken in a rush so are not as great as I’d hoped).

SHOPPING SPREE : HOLIDAY PURCHASES

Standard

HELLO!

It’s been some time since I posted…sorry, but I’ve been away! That’s right, 4 years after moving to sunny Oz, the family and I took a fabulous 4 week trip home to the UK. Now it goes without saying that family and friends are at the top of my ‘What I miss about the UK’ list, but I DO miss the shopping too – and boy did I shop!!! Let’s just say we brought back double the amount of cases we left with.

Clothes…shoes…make-up…handbags(more than 1 or 2!)…jewellery…

I think it’s only fair I share a few of my purchases…

I bought a new mascara called ‘They’re Real’, from Benefit and it is AMAZING. It makes you look like you are wearing ‘falsies’. It’s not waterproof which is what I generally go for as I tend to struggle with my mascara smudging under my eyes when it’s hot. I have worn it on a couple of nights out and it’s stayed put( so far so good).

mascara

Here a some pictures of a few of my other purchases (most available online)

haremzebra shoebagboots

coke topleaf earingsnl top

Harem pants: Marks and Spencer – up to size XL

Zebra print shoes: Viva La Diva – various width fittings

Spotty bag: Debenhams

Patent riding boots: Simply Be – various widths and calf fittings

Neon sweatshirt: ASDA

Gold leaf earrings: Accessorize

Top: New Look (Inspire)

Now that I’ve shared some of my recent finds, what have you bought recently that you love???
